About the position

The Data Governance Lead is responsible for implementing and managing data governance practices within Azure Cloud services, ensuring data quality, integrity, and accessibility. This role involves driving data democratization, establishing data governance councils, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. The position requires collaboration with various teams to manage data governance initiatives across a large-scale organization, particularly focusing on petabyte-scale data assets.

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement data governance best practices for Azure Cloud, including policies for data lineage, classification, access control, data masking, and encryption.
  • Design and implement best practices for data governance to ensure high data quality, integrity, and accessibility across Azure Cloud services.
  • Develop and maintain governance policies and procedures for Informatica, Databricks, Oracle, Delta Lake, Real-time Data, Kafka, etc.
  • Lead continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) efforts, establishing a robust and agile development cycle.
  • Collaborate with multiple teams and stakeholders to manage data governance initiatives across a large-scale organization.
  • Handle and maintain data governance strategies for petabyte-scale data assets.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and privacy standards across all data operations.
  • Develop and implement data classification, access control, and encryption standards to enhance data security.
  • Guide the team on API management and replication tool management for efficient data integration and replication.
  • Monitor and report on data governance metrics to track effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in data governance with proficiency in Azure Cloud Services.
  • Strong knowledge of Informatica, Databricks, Oracle, Delta Lake, Real-time Data, and Kafka, focusing on governance best practices.
  • Sound experience in governing CI/CD pipelines for the mentioned technologies.
  • Excellent collaboration and leadership skills with a track record of managing data governance initiatives in large organizations.
  • Experience in managing petabyte-scale data with a focus on governance, security, and quality.
  • Expertise in the retail domain and understanding of its data management needs.
  • Proficient in API management and replication tool management.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to navigate complex data governance issues.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations and privacy standards.
  • Strong communication skills to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Prior experience in implementing data encryption and data masking techniques to enhance data security.
  • Proficiency in various data lifecycle management strategies including data retention and archiving policies.
  • Familiarity with compliance standards like CCPA and GDPR.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with other Informatica services is a plus.
  • Retail experience is a plus.
