About the position

The Data Governance Lead is responsible for overseeing data governance initiatives, including data cataloging and stewardship, within the organization. This role requires extensive experience in data governance practices and the ability to work collaboratively with project teams to deliver effective data management solutions. The position emphasizes the integration of new data sources and the validation of data lineage, ensuring that data governance standards are met across various domains.

Responsibilities

• Oversee data governance initiatives including data cataloging and stewardship.
• Integrate new data sources for metadata acquisition.
• Work closely with project teams to deliver catalog use cases, including design, configuration, and deployment.
• Validate lineage diagrams and modify as required.
• Demonstrate familiarity with Purview best practices, infrastructure, and networking setup.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in Data Governance, data catalog, and data stewardship.
• Hands-on experience with programming languages such as SQL, HTML, Java, and Python.
• Deep understanding of data governance capabilities including data catalog, data dictionary, business lineage, technical lineage, and stewardship workflows.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Retail/CPG domain knowledge is a plus.
• Experience with MS Purview Data Governance portal for data management.
