About the position

The Data Governance Lead at Cargill is responsible for providing strategic leadership in developing, deploying, and maintaining governance strategies and processes that drive value. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to define and implement data governance practices, ensuring data consistency, security, quality, and reliability across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with key stakeholders including data privacy, technology governance, risk & compliance, HR, and business data teams to enhance data governance maturity.
  • Define and operationalize a federated data governance framework for sustainable data management and governance efforts.
  • Champion a culture of data as a strategic asset and implement governance disciplines through competency frameworks and education tracks.
  • Maintain visibility with enterprise and senior leadership regarding the status and progress of data governance activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of six years of related work experience.
  • Minimum of five years in a data leadership position.
  • Broad knowledge of data, data management, and governance.
  • Experience defining and operationalizing data governance and/or security programs.
  • Experience with authoring policies and enforcement via auditing.
  • Experience leading teams without direct oversight, via influence.
