About the position

As a Data Governance Manager at Hyster-Yale Group, Inc. (HYG), you will play a pivotal role in leading the Data Governance Council and managing the overall data governance framework across the organization. This position is based in Greenville, NC, and involves building and maintaining strong relationships with business leaders who own key areas of data ownership. You will be responsible for the creation and management of the data, analytics, and algorithm governance program, ensuring that the organization adheres to established information policies and standards that enable successful business outcomes with big data and analytics. Your role will encompass the rollout of an enterprise-wide data governance framework, focusing on improving data quality and protecting sensitive data. This will involve modifying organizational behavior policies and standards, establishing governance metrics, and refining processes and data architecture. You will also lead the Master Data Management (MDM) program, defining policies specific to MDM and influencing business teams to understand and support information ownership globally. In addition, you will monitor the current state of data quality and process integrity, aligning data quality initiatives with business objectives. You will identify high-value use cases, assess the maturity of existing data quality and MDM programs, and document quality problems while creating remediation plans. Your strategic direction and recommendations will be crucial in driving business process improvements and ensuring the effective use of information across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation and management of the Data Governance Council.
  • Build and maintain relationships with business leaders owning key areas of Data Ownership.
  • Create and manage the data, analytics, and algorithm governance program.
  • Define a decision framework encompassing information policies and standards.
  • Roll out an enterprise-wide data governance framework focusing on data quality and protection of sensitive data.
  • Lead and define policies specific to Master Data Management (MDM).
  • Influence business teams to understand and support information ownership.
  • Act as trustees of data and advocate for its better usage.
  • Monitor the current state of data quality and process integrity.
  • Align data quality initiatives with business objectives.
  • Identify high-value use cases and assess the maturity of existing data quality and MDM programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Business, or related field.
  • 7+ years of data management and/or data governance experience.
  • 2+ years of experience leading teams.
  • Knowledge of data modeling and architecture principles and techniques.
  • Proven success with systems, data, and innovative digital endeavors.
  • People management experience.
  • Extensive data management experience, including knowledge of data modeling, data integration, and general database concepts.
  • Ability to improve the quality of existing data and ensure guidelines are followed for new data.
  • Ability to define data governance policies and educate stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with multiple departments.
