About the position

As a Data Governance & Metadata Management Architect at Cognizant, you will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing a robust data governance framework with a strong emphasis on metadata management. This position is crucial for ensuring that the organization's data assets are optimally handled, cataloged, and governed, which in turn enables data-driven decision-making while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. You will collaborate closely with data stewards, IT teams, and business collaborators to establish metadata standards, policies, and procedures that ensure data quality, consistency, and security across the organization. Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing a comprehensive data governance framework that encompasses policies, standards, and procedures for effective data management. You will establish data stewardship roles and responsibilities across various business units, ensuring compliance with data-related regulations and industry-standard methodologies. In terms of metadata management, you will design and implement an enterprise-wide strategy that includes the creation of a metadata repository, defining and maintaining metadata standards to ensure consistent use and understanding of data across the organization. You will lead the development and maintenance of data dictionaries, data lineage, and business glossaries, which are essential for effective data governance. In addition to governance and metadata management, you will evaluate and recommend tools and technologies that support these initiatives. You will craft the architecture for integrating metadata management tools with existing data platforms, such as data lakes, data warehouses, and data catalogs, ensuring that these solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with enterprise architecture principles. Your role will also involve collaborating with IT, data engineering, and business units to ensure that data governance and metadata management initiatives align with business goals. As a leader, you will provide mentorship to data stewards and other partners in implementing metadata management practices. You will conduct training sessions and workshops to promote a culture of data governance and stewardship within the organization, ensuring that all practices align with relevant data privacy and security regulations. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence the data governance landscape within Cognizant and contribute to the overall success of the organization.
