About the position

This is a remote position open to any qualified applicant in the United States. As a Data Governance & Metadata Management Architect at Cognizant, you will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing a robust data governance framework, with a particular focus on metadata management. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that the organization's data assets are optimally handled, cataloged, and governed, enabling data-driven decision-making while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. You will work closely with data stewards, IT teams, and business collaborators to establish metadata standards, policies, and procedures, ensuring data quality, consistency, and security across the organization. In this role, you will develop and implement a comprehensive data governance framework, including policies, standards, and procedures for data management. You will establish data stewardship roles and responsibilities across business units and ensure compliance with data-related regulations and industry standard methodologies. Additionally, you will design and implement an enterprise-wide metadata management strategy, including the creation of a metadata repository, and define and maintain metadata standards to ensure consistent use and understanding of data across the organization. You will evaluate and recommend data governance and metadata management tools and technologies, crafting the architecture for integrating these tools with existing data platforms such as data lakes, data warehouses, and data catalogs. Your leadership will be crucial as you collaborate with IT, data engineering, and business units to ensure that data governance and metadata management initiatives align with business goals. You will also provide mentorship to data stewards and conduct training sessions to promote a culture of data governance and stewardship within the organization, ensuring that practices align with relevant data privacy and security regulations.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Senior level experience in data governance and metadata management.
