About the position

The Data Governance role focuses on the implementation and oversight of Microsoft Purview, a data governance tool that helps organizations manage and govern their data across various sources. The contractor will serve as the primary compliance contact, ensuring that data from Microsoft 365 applications and other sources is effectively managed and compliant with regulatory standards. This position involves a range of responsibilities including eDiscovery, data cataloging, classification, lineage tracking, and compliance management, particularly in the context of public health data.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary compliance contact for the implementation and oversight of Microsoft Purview.
  • Implement and oversee eDiscovery processes for document searches.
  • Organize and index data assets for easy discovery and understanding.
  • Apply labels and tags to data based on sensitivity and regulatory requirements.
  • Track the origins, movements, and transformations of data throughout its lifecycle.
  • Provide analytical capabilities to derive insights and enhance decision-making.
  • Ensure data usage complies with regulatory standards and internal policies.
  • Coordinate with departments to retrieve requested data and compile documents for disclosure.
  • Communicate with requesters to clarify requests and provide updates on processing status.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Data Governance to develop and revise policies and SOPs related to data management.
  • Monitor and interpret federal and state data protection laws and regulations.
  • Develop training materials and conduct sessions on data governance policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate in developing and designing data management applications and systems for public health purposes.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and Adobe.
  • Experience in utilizing Microsoft Purview to implement and manage data governance frameworks.
  • Experience conducting eDiscovery Premium searches.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of laws, regulations, and standards governing the management of sensitive data (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH, NIST Standards).
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • WebLogic experience.
