The Data Governance Program Lead at MSA Safety is a pivotal role that focuses on establishing and maintaining data governance frameworks to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and security of data across the organization. In this role, you will collaborate with various stakeholders, including legal teams and data platform teams, to define and implement comprehensive data management strategies and governance frameworks. You will be responsible for establishing and enforcing data standards, naming conventions, and classification frameworks that align with both internal and external governance needs. Your leadership will drive the creation and maintenance of robust master data processes, ensuring that data governance processes are effectively implemented and monitored. You will also participate in the development of data policies that cover critical areas such as data retention, privacy, and regulation. This includes developing procedures to ensure appropriate access rules are in place and that access groups are well-defined and maintained. As a thought leader, you will engage in projects that involve upstream and downstream data flows, helping to identify, report, analyze, and resolve data issues related to uniqueness, integrity, accuracy, consistency, and completeness. Your guidance will be essential for domain owners and data stewards as they manage the corporate data catalog, ensuring best practices are followed throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to define and implement data management strategies, policies, and governance frameworks.
  • Establish and enforce data standards, naming conventions, and data classification frameworks.
  • Implement and monitor data governance processes, including data access controls, data retention policies, and data life cycle management.
  • Provide leadership and drive the creation and maintenance of robust master data processes and governance.
  • Participate in the development of data policies, including data retention, data privacy, data use, and data regulation.
  • Develop policies and procedures to ensure appropriate access rules are in place and access groups are defined and maintained.
  • Provide thought leadership and participate with projects that involve any of the upstream or downstream data flows and processes.
  • Identify, report, analyze, and resolve data issues related to uniqueness, integrity, accuracy, consistency, and completeness by working with business owners and the Data Platform Team.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to domain owners and data stewards regarding best practices for managing the corporate data catalog.
  • Work with various stakeholders and the legal team to understand internal and external governance needs (40%).
  • Work with the platform team to implement a governance system (30%).
  • Create and maintain governance policies, metrics, and processes (20%).
  • Present data governance and compliance reports to the data strategy leadership (10%).

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Data Governance and Data Quality (or similar) roles.
  • Knowledge of Data Stewardship and Data Ownership processes.
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, business, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
