About the position

The Data Governance Program Manager at Mitsubishi Chemical America is responsible for establishing and implementing regional data governance methodologies that align with the global framework. This role focuses on integrating data governance strategies, including Master Data Management (MDM), into business processes to support strategic goals. The position is pivotal in shaping data governance practices during a critical digital transformation period, ensuring data is managed as a strategic asset.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive regional data governance strategy that aligns with the global data governance framework.
  • Establish data governance and MDM policies, standards, and procedures for consistent data management practices.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to integrate data governance methodologies into regional business processes.
  • Lead the implementation and management of Master Data Management initiatives for data accuracy and reliability.
  • Support the integration of MDM processes into existing systems and workflows.
  • Define and manage data quality metrics and KPIs to ensure data integrity and consistency.
  • Oversee data quality assessment processes and implement remediation plans as needed.
  • Function as a liaison between regional and global teams for alignment on data governance practices.
  • Communicate the value of data governance and MDM to stakeholders and drive engagement through education and training.
  • Ensure compliance of regional data governance practices with local regulations and global standards.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with data management.
  • Lead the execution of data governance and MDM projects, ensuring timely delivery.
  • Manage the regional data governance program budget, resources, and timelines.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of data governance practices for continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Data Management, Business Administration, or a related field; master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in data governance, MDM, or related roles within a complex, global organization.
  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, methodologies, and best practices, including MDM.
  • Experience with data quality management, compliance, risk management, and MDM.
  • Excellent project management skills with a proven history of leading cross-functional initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Familiarity with data governance and MDM tools and technologies.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a global team.
  • Experience in the chemical manufacturing industry or related sectors.
  • Knowledge of global and regional data privacy regulation.
  • Certification in data governance or MDM (e.g., DGSP, CDMP) is a plus.
