About the position

The Data Governance Program Manager at Tricon Residential is responsible for enhancing data governance across all business domains and data sources within the organization. This role aims to establish a center of excellence in data governance, requiring a blend of technical expertise and strong communication skills to manage initiatives and engage stakeholders effectively. The position focuses on improving data literacy and promoting data democratization throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver on the established data governance strategy and frameworks that align with organizational goals.
  • Implement data governance policies and standards across all business domains and data sources.
  • Lead and manage data governance projects from inception through completion.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure data governance initiatives are effectively integrated into business processes.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for data governance-related inquiries.
  • Communicate data governance policies and procedures to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Chair the data governance steering committee which includes data stewards from across the organization.
  • Utilize Microsoft Purview for Data Governance to manage and enrich data assets.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, compliance, and security through effective governance practices.
  • Develop and implement initiatives to improve data literacy across the organization.
  • Promote data democratization to ensure accessible and usable data for all business units.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on data governance best practices.
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to ensure compliance with data governance policies.
  • Establish metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of data governance initiatives.
  • Regularly report on data governance performance to senior management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Data Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in data governance, data management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience with Microsoft Purview for Data Governance and experience with hybrid/federated data governance models.
  • Excellent technical and business communication skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in data governance concepts, tools and technologies.
  • Proficiency with relational databases, especially Snowflake, is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Relevant certifications in data governance or data management.
