About the position

The Associate Principal, Information Governance and Privacy is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of information governance, data protection, and privacy programs. This role focuses on creating strategies, policies, and procedures to manage information as an enterprise asset, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and facilitating risk management across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Work with stakeholders to create a culture that manages information as an enterprise asset.
  • Implement the information governance, data protection, and privacy program, including the development of policies and procedures.
  • Identify and implement technologies to support program objectives and classification standards.
  • Execute controls and risk assessments related to third-party risk, privacy, and data protection.
  • Perform privacy impact assessments on data incidents and collaborate with Security Services and Legal to resolve incidents.
  • Create and execute strategies to identify information throughout its life cycle.
  • Prepare for regulatory and internal audits/examinations and remediate findings in a timely manner.
  • Use technology/tools to track projects, manage deliverables, and create reporting that supports program objectives.
  • Support compliance assessments for information governance, data protection, and privacy, including developing controls to measure risk.
  • Develop and maintain the organization's Records and Information Management (RIM) program, ensuring proper retention and disposal of information.

Requirements

  • 7 or more years of applicable work experience in information governance, data protection, and privacy policy.
  • Strong interest in understanding and solving data challenges.
  • Knowledge of enterprise systems, networks, databases, and other technical domains.
  • Strong attention to detail and customer orientation.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience in building capabilities for auto data classification, data security, and data protection.
  • Experience with classification standard definitions and settings.
  • Experience with privacy requirements and personal information protection.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and analytic skills.
  • Ability to adapt to change in emerging environments and work across multiple areas.
  • Experience in developing policies and procedures.
  • Experience in project management and managing multiple priorities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the financial services industry.
  • Certifications in Information, Data, Privacy Records or Security such as CIPP, CIPM, CRM, CISSP, IGP, CISM, CISA.
