About the position

LMI is seeking a Data Governance Subject Matter Expert (SME) to play a pivotal role in developing, deploying, and enforcing policies and procedures that ensure efficient and accurate records management and effective information management across the organization. The Data Governance SME will be instrumental in ensuring that data is utilized and maintained properly, aligning with the organization's mission to provide high-performing government solutions. In this role, the Data Governance SME will work collaboratively within a team environment and support a client Data Governance Council. This position serves as a crucial liaison between technical and functional data roles, including Data Owners, Stewards, Curators, and business-focused roles. The responsibilities encompass project execution, ensuring on-time deliverables that exceed customer expectations, managing project finances, and interfacing with various levels of customer representation, from analysts to C-level leadership. The Data Governance SME will analyze current data architectures and operating environments, providing recommendations for future functionality and enhancements. This includes supporting executive-level briefings on data solution architecture, design, and technology alternatives. The role also involves designing, developing, implementing, and sustaining data standards, data models, and governance policies as part of a broader enterprise data management program. Key areas of focus will include data cataloging, data flow visualization, data quality frameworks, metadata management, and data security. The SME will utilize appropriate software tools to streamline data governance processes and assist in the development of data-centric applications and integration services as needed. Leveraging big data and cloud technologies will be essential to architect solutions that deliver data efficiently to decision-makers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deploy information management processes and procedures in accordance with Enterprise policies and standards.
  • Support a client Data Governance Council, serving as a liaison between technical and functional data roles.
  • Execute projects ensuring on-time deliverables that exceed customer expectations.
  • Manage project financials and resources effectively.
  • Analyze current data architectures and operating environments, making recommendations for enhancements.
  • Support executive-level briefings on data solution architecture and technology alternatives.
  • Design, develop, implement, and sustain data standards, data models, and governance policies.
  • Implement data cataloging and data flow/lineage visualization.
  • Establish a data quality framework, metrics, and adherence to data standards.
  • Manage metadata and data security, ensuring equitable data access.
  • Communicate across varying data roles to solve cross-domain data governance issues.
  • Utilize data governance and management software to streamline processes and workflows.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of data-centric applications and integration services.
  • Leverage big data and cloud technologies to architect solutions for faster and more accurate data delivery.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, data science, mathematics, statistics, economics, engineering, or a related discipline (Master's degree preferred).
  • Strong data governance background with deep knowledge of metadata management, data quality management, and data integration.
  • Working knowledge of databases and database structures to articulate data concepts between business and technical users.
  • 6+ years of experience in data analysis, metadata management, or data quality, with 3+ years in Project Management.
  • Ability to evaluate business requirements and recommend solutions in the form of products and services.
  • Experience in architecting and designing data-centric solutions.
  • Familiarity with data architecture, data warehousing, and data governance.
  • Experience in leading business process reengineering and business architectural development.
  • Ability to develop responsive data structures, metadata capture strategies, and data dictionaries.
  • Experience in leading or supporting data operations teams to develop architecture and policies.

  • Hands-on experience with industry-leading data governance, data cataloging, and metadata management software/tools/platforms.
