About the position

The Data Governance Specialist will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a data governance framework to ensure the quality, accuracy, and security of Lockheed Martin's 21CS All Domain Data Enabler (ADDER) data assets. This role will involve working closely with cross-functional teams and internal and external customers to develop data policies, procedures, and standards, as well as implementing data quality controls and metrics. The Data Governance Practitioner will also serve as a subject matter expert on data governance best practices and promote a data-driven culture within the organization. In this position, the specialist will leverage their proven experience in data governance, including the creation of data dictionaries for mission data. They will utilize their strong knowledge of Lockheed Martin's data governance frameworks, methodologies, and tools to develop effective data policies and standards within a federated data governance model. The role requires experience in implementing automations for data quality and security, as well as familiarity with DoD minimum essential metadata and Zero Trust principles. Additionally, the specialist will be responsible for creating data governance training materials and providing direct support to data stewards, ensuring that all team members are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to uphold data governance standards. The Data Governance Specialist will also be expected to participate in a Data Governance Control Board or similar, contributing to discussions and decisions that shape the organization's data governance strategy. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as the specialist will need to build relationships with various cross-functional teams to foster collaboration and ensure alignment on data governance initiatives.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Proven experience in data governance including creation of data dictionaries for mission data.
  • Strong knowledge of Lockheed Martin data governance frameworks, methodologies, and tools.
  • Experience in developing data policies, procedures, and standards within a federated data governance model.
  • Experience implementing automations for data quality and security.
  • Familiarity with DoD minimum essential metadata.
  • Familiarity with Zero Trust principles and implementations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in implementing data quality controls and metrics.
  • Knowledge of data analytics and visualization tools to support visibility into data governance reporting.
