About the position

KeyLogic is actively seeking a Data Governance Systems Administrator who can design and implement data administration policies, models, and standards. This role is crucial for the implementation of the entire data governance program and serves as the escalation point for resolving all data-related conflicts. A data administrator is responsible for processing and transforming data into optimal data models. The responsibilities of data governance include establishing the necessary infrastructure and technology, setting up and maintaining processes and policies, and identifying individuals within the organization who have the authority and responsibility for handling and safeguarding specific types of data. The Data Governance Systems Administrator will be tasked with implementing changes in database operations to ensure that data is readily available to end-users while minimizing downtime. This role requires managing database access, keeping stored data up-to-date, and providing training, feedback, and support to users on the usage of the data provided. Additionally, the administrator must ensure that the database is adequately backed up to retrieve vital information in case of accidental loss or security breaches. Monitoring performance and providing insights on improving the authenticity and security of data is also a key responsibility, along with maintaining the efficiency of the database through regular checks and updates. The ideal candidate will have proficiency in using various data management tools and platforms, a solid understanding of database systems, and familiarity with data privacy regulations. They will also be expected to develop and document data governance policies, procedures, and standards to ensure data integrity and compliance with regulations. The role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment, and a proven track record in a customer service-oriented setting.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • US Citizenship Required
  • Able to obtain a Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other technical discipline required
  • 4+ years of experience as a Data Governance Platform
  • Relevant certifications, such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), are a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in using data management tools and platforms, such as data cataloging software (e.g., Collibra, Alation)
  • Understanding of database systems, both relational (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra)
  • Knowledge of data profiling techniques and tools to assess the quality, consistency, and completeness of data
  • Familiarity with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and data security practices
  • Experience with managing metadata, including metadata tagging, classification, and ensuring metadata accuracy and consistency
  • Understanding of data governance frameworks, such as DAMA and DGI Data Governance Framework
  • Ability to establish and maintain data lineage, tracking data transformations
  • Developing and documenting data governance policies, procedures, and standards
  • Knowledge of data integration techniques and tools for bringing data from various sources together
  • Implementing data auditing and monitoring solutions
  • Understanding of MDM principles and practices for managing critical business data elements
  • Proficiency in SQL for querying and manipulating data, as well as scripting languages (e.g., Python, R)
  • Creating and maintaining reports and metrics to track the effectiveness of data governance initiatives
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data storage and processing services (e.g., AWS S3, Azure Data Lake, Google BigQuery)
  • Using version control systems (e.g., Git) to manage changes to data governance policies
