About the position

The Data Governance Specialist is responsible for managing and overseeing data governance initiatives within the organization, particularly in the insurance domain. This role involves utilizing data management tools to catalog data assets, ensuring data quality, and maintaining compliance with industry regulations. The specialist will collaborate with various stakeholders to enhance data discoverability and accessibility while leading projects that align with business objectives.

Responsibilities

• Utilize IDMC to catalog data assets and enhance metadata management.
• Develop, validate, and maintain mappings and schemas in Excel for master data management.
• Regularly audit and refine data quality, collaborating with IT and actuarial teams.
• Apply Data Scanning, Data Lineage, Data Quality, and Data Dictionary capabilities.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for the data governance program.
• Oversee user onboarding and access management, ensuring compliance with data governance policies.
• Implement and enforce data management practices in compliance with regulations like GDPR and HIPAA.
• Liaise between data users, technical teams, and business leaders to align data accessibility with strategic needs.
• Manage and execute data governance projects, ensuring timely completion.
• Conduct training sessions and provide ongoing support for data governance practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in data governance or a similar role within the insurance industry.
• Expertise in using data governance tools for data cataloging and advanced proficiency in Excel.
• Familiarity with insurance data standards and regulatory environments affecting actuarial functions.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal abilities, with experience in consultancy and client-facing roles.
