About the position

The Data Governance Specialist will be responsible for defining and implementing data governance policies across multiple data domains, utilizing tools such as Microsoft Purview and Databricks Unity Catalog. This role focuses on ensuring data quality, compliance with regulations, and effective communication of governance practices throughout the organization. The specialist will collaborate with various teams to address analytical needs and drive improvements in data governance processes.

Responsibilities

  • Define and operate the data governance policies that support multiple data domains.
  • Implement the data governance program vision using Microsoft Purview, Databricks Unity Catalog, and Profisee, promoting governance roles and enforcing policies.
  • Develop and communicate Data Governance policies to stakeholders and provide training as needed.
  • Provide authority for Data Governance oversight and support for Asset Management to ensure awareness and drive decisions for data standards and policies.
  • Understand various data storage solutions and collaborate with the Data Engineering team as needed.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, and business units to solve analytical needs and ensure data quality.
  • Oversee processes, policies, and standards for data management, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Monitor and measure the effectiveness of the data governance program and report on key performance indicators.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for improvement and innovation in data governance.
  • Socialize and educate data governance policies and practices across the organization.
  • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of data governance standards and procedures.
  • Define data quality metrics and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or Information Systems.
  • 6+ years experience in data governance, data integration, and data management.
  • In-depth understanding of data compliance, security, and privacy regulations (CCPA, GDPR, etc.).
  • Proven experience in data quality management, including the development and implementation of data quality standards, processes, and procedures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SQL.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly independent; can own and drive meaningful and sophisticated tracks of work.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and build trust with multi-functional teams.
  • Comfortable operating in constantly evolving environments and creating clarity out of ambiguity.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Profisee.
