About the position

The Data Governance Specialist will work alongside Data and IT to ensure that the Office of Public Instruction (OPI) has access to secure and effective information. This role involves collaborating with key IT staff to support the day-to-day operation and integrity of relevant systems, ensuring compliance with standards and policies. The incumbent will implement data governance for OPI, providing support and feedback for the development of policies, processes, workflows, and process improvements, while ensuring data completeness, accuracy, and integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with IT staff to support the operation and integrity of data systems.
  • Implement data governance policies and procedures for OPI.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards and policies regarding data management.
  • Prepare written communication, training materials, and technical presentations.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships and integrate their inputs into the work.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in information technology, system engineering, computer science, auditing, or related field.
  • 4 or more years of job-related work experience.
  • Knowledge of data governance systems, processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of technology used for data collection and validation.
  • Skilled in managing priorities, problem-solving, decision-making, and analytics.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with process mapping and value stream mapping.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and speaking.
