About the position

The Data Governance Specialist will play a crucial role in establishing and maintaining data governance policies and procedures within a fast-growing manufacturing and construction company. This position involves collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to document findings, remediate issues, and gather consensus on data governance projects. The role is hybrid, requiring in-office presence twice a week in Plano, TX.

Responsibilities

  • Establish data governance policies and procedures.
  • Document and remediate findings related to data governance.
  • Collaborate with business and data stakeholders to gather consensus on data governance projects.
  • Communicate risks and benefits of data governance initiatives to stakeholders.
  • Engage in hands-on data governance activities and team collaboration.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in compliance, data management, and data governance.
  • Experience with data governance responsibilities.
  • Strong communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Purview, Databricks, SQL, Python, and Azure Data Factory/Data Platform.
  • Familiarity with basic data tools and Excel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Relevant degrees and certifications in data governance or related fields.
  • Knowledge of privacy and data protection frameworks such as GDPR and CCPA.
