About the position

The Data Governance Supervisor at Ford Motor Company is responsible for leading a team that ensures secure and compliant access to enterprise data. This role involves managing access requests, troubleshooting issues, and supporting compliance with data governance principles and privacy regulations. The Supervisor will work closely with various stakeholders to improve processes and ensure adherence to data protection best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee a team responsible for approving and managing data access requests, ensuring adherence to company policies and risk guidelines.
  • Approve access requests and prioritize automation to reduce manual approvals.
  • Create and manage manual processes to handle complex or sensitive access requests.
  • Provide leadership and support during system changes or updates that impact user access.
  • Manage a mailbox supporting end-users, addressing inquiries and escalating as needed.
  • Handle special access requests related to litigation or compliance investigations.
  • Implement and manage automated decisioning rules to streamline access approvals.
  • Provide consultation on access decisioning processes and challenges.
  • Develop and maintain end-user documentation for access provisioning solutions for big data environments.
  • Lead a team responsible for resolving data access issues, collaborating with users of the Enterprise Data Platform.
  • Troubleshoot access problems across various environments.
  • Manage cross-environment approval processes and intra-Platform request processing.
  • Provide input on automation opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Oversee the access admin process and manage access-related migration activities.
  • Work closely with the access provisioning solutions for big data environments team to champion UX and process improvements needed to support request processing.
  • Collaborate with product teams to create and support manual or automated provisioning processes.
  • Participate in cross-functional data projects as needed.
  • Prioritize features and enhancements based on business needs and stakeholder feedback to support improvements in access management administration.
  • Collaborate with engineering and other teams to ensure timely and effective implementation of new features and updates.
  • Define, monitor, and report on key access-related metrics.
  • Provide regular performance reports and data analysis to leadership and the Office of General Counsel.
  • Monitor performance metrics and identify areas for improvement in the access decisioning process.
  • Support compliance and audit activities, including but not limited to S-Ox, GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant audits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data governance, data protection, or a related field.
  • 3+ years experience in managing a team of 5+ people.
  • Proven experience leading and mentoring teams.
  • Deep understanding of relevant global privacy regulations.
  • Experience working with large-scale data platforms and technologies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional team.
  • Experience with GCP or other cloud solutions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certifications in data governance, data protection, or privacy (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM, CISM).
  • Experience with Agile methodologies.
