About the position

The Data Information Architect will support the Defense Health Agency (DHA) by delivering data-driven decision science analytics for military healthcare operations. This role involves building data warehouses, developing ETL processes, and ensuring data accuracy to facilitate effective decision-making within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Builds data warehouses for the organization's internal departments utilizing various data warehousing ideas.
  • Creates and improves data solutions that enable smooth data delivery and oversees gathering, processing, maintaining, and analyzing enormous amounts of data.
  • Leads the logical data model design and implementation and the construction and implementation of operational data stores and data marts.
  • Designs, automates, and supports sophisticated data extraction, transformation, and loading applications.
  • Ensures the accuracy of data.
  • Creates logical and physical data flow models for ETL applications.
  • Translates data access, transformation, and mobility needs into functional requirements and mapping designs.
  • Delivers products on time, on schedule, within budget, and adapts to rapidly changing environments.
  • Communicates analytical discoveries and recommendations effectively to all levels of customers including Senior DHA leadership.
  • Synthesizes disparate data from multiple sources into accurate and useful analytic products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, Computer Science, Biostatistics, Informatics, Mathematics or similar/related field.
  • Prior experience developing databases and understanding of data modeling concepts.
  • Knowledge and experience with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Strong background developing Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes.
  • Strong SQL development skills: experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), and Python coding are required.
  • Knowledge of different SQL/NoSQL data storage techniques and Big Data technologies.
  • Three (3) years experience with Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
  • Three (3) years experience of ETL development experience.
  • Three (3) years experience in development of product support documentation.
  • Three (3) years experience in workflow development and documentation of workflow processes.
  • Two (2) years experience developing, testing, and maintaining ETL processes.
  • Security Plus certification.
  • Able to read, write, speak and understand English.

Nice-to-haves

  • Minimum of 3 years experience data mining and conducting detailed analysis within the Military Health System (MHS) Data Warehouses and software.
  • One plus year in experience with Transact-SQL or ANSI SQL.
  • SAS programming experience is an acceptable alternative.
  • Familiarity with Application Programming Interface (API) data pipeline integration with the R or Python languages.
  • Preferred familiarity with Jenkins and/or other CI tools for monitoring and establishment of data pipelines and task automation.
