About the position

As a Data Insights Analyst on the Fraud Protection Team at Spectrum, you will play a critical role in analyzing, designing, and implementing strategies to prevent, detect, and manage fraud within the organization. Your primary responsibility will be to leverage existing data sources and create new analysis methods to extract meaningful information from data, providing actionable recommendations to drive outcomes. The Fraud Protection Team is dedicated to conducting in-depth investigations to find and eliminate various types of fraud, ensuring customer information remains safe and secure. This role is essential in helping deliver the exceptional services and experiences that Spectrum is known for, as it connects over 32 million customers across 41 states. In this position, you will analyze current fraud detection strategies and processes to identify gaps and areas for improvement. You will also develop new strategies aimed at preventing, detecting, and reducing fraudulent activities. Your work will involve providing metrics definition, data visualizations, and Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) requirements. You will be responsible for extracting, cleaning, and engineering data for analysis, interpreting data, formulating hypotheses, and developing an analytical approach to meet business requirements. Utilizing advanced visualization tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, and Excel, you will create reports for customers and communicate results effectively through data visualization and presentations. The role requires a self-starter who can excel in a dynamic office environment. You will need to prioritize and organize effectively while enjoying the process of analyzing, interpreting, and presenting data. Responsibilities

  • Analyze current fraud detection strategies and processes to identify gaps and areas of improvement.
  • Develop new strategies to prevent, detect, and reduce fraudulent activities.
  • Provide metrics definition, data visualizations, and Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) requirements.
  • Extract, clean, and engineer data for analysis.
  • Interpret data, formulate hypotheses, and develop an analytical approach to meet business requirements.
  • Use advanced visualization tools like Tableau, PowerBI, and Excel to create reports for customers.
  • Obtain new reference data sources required to deliver on business needs.
  • Use data visualization and presentations to communicate results and make recommendations.
  • Create analyses and dashboards that are usable, elegant, and industry-leading.

Requirements

  • 5 years or more of relevant technical or business work experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in advanced analytics processes and reporting design principles.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, or R.
  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure.
  • Demonstrated understanding of design and implementation practices within data visualization tools.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
