About the position

Haymarket Media, Inc. is seeking a Data Journalist to join the Campaign Red team, focusing on data-driven storytelling in the advertising, media, and marketing sectors. This role involves sourcing, cleaning, and analyzing data to produce insightful reports and articles that inform and engage a global audience. The Data Journalist will collaborate with editorial teams to enhance content quality and deliver premium insights to subscribers, primarily in North America.

Responsibilities

• Manage the editorial output from Red including the identification, planning, creation and delivery of reports, bulletins and surveys.
• Work with Campaign's editors to spot potential data-driven premium content.
• Ensure the data is fit for purpose by collaborating with the wider Red team.
• Manage regional freelance contributors and oversee their commissioning as directed by the Global Intelligence Editor.
• Build strong relationships with key advertising, media, and marketing professionals in the North American market.
• Ensure quality control of all data and editorial content to meet Campaign standards.
• Create compelling stories, reports, and data visualizations for readers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
• Proficient in Excel/Google Sheets with knowledge of common formulas and data manipulation techniques.
• Ability to identify trends from data and communicate findings effectively in writing.
• High-level communication and interpersonal skills to convey ideas and strategies to stakeholders.
• Experience as a journalist, data journalist, reporter, writer, or researcher.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of the advertising industry.
• Experience with data visualization software or tools, such as Infogram or Datawrapper.
• Experience with national or industry data sources.
