About the position

As a Cloud Architect at Americold, you will play a pivotal role in designing, building, deploying, and maintaining business applications for our cloud systems and technologies. Your expertise will influence architectural choices across various use cases, including security, data lakes, analytics, and AI/ML. The ideal candidate will possess a strategic mindset to tackle business, product, and technical challenges effectively. You will provide exceptional technical design guidance and thought leadership, collaborating closely with business and cross-functional technical teams to optimize existing cloud solutions and propose new ones. This includes migrating existing workloads, assisting with cloud migration efforts, reviewing workload architectures, and addressing high-risk issues. You will also lead efforts to capture and share best practices with technical data engineers and data analysts. Your responsibilities will include architecting, designing, and maintaining scalable, cost-effective, and efficient cloud solutions on data lakes while ensuring compliance with best practices. You will design, build, and implement proof-of-concept solutions, cloud architectures, and applications. Working closely with stakeholders and product teams, you will bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders to create cloud-based solutions that meet business objectives. You will communicate effectively with stakeholders to build applications that fulfill project needs and collaborate with various departments, including Business Operations, Sales, Finance, and Customers. In this role, you will ensure the security of cloud environments, preventing downtime or security breaches, and look for opportunities to migrate older systems to the cloud for improved efficiency. You will implement solutions using AWS cloud offerings such as EC2, S3, Lambda, and Glue jobs, ensuring compliance with cloud best practices and mitigating security vulnerabilities. Additionally, you will provide technical support on cloud-related issues, monitor solutions, and implement strategies to eliminate performance bottlenecks. You will utilize tools like IAM, resource tagging, and cost management to enforce cloud governance policies and implement monitoring and alerting solutions proactively. As the business grows, you will scale our cloud data infrastructure, data pipelines, and tools, evaluate and enhance data quality and reliability, and manage collaboration with data engineers and analysts throughout all phases of the SDLC. Staying updated on the latest trends in data science, machine learning, and cloud technologies will be essential to drive innovation within the organization. You will lead the design, development, and deployment of ML pipelines and data solutions in cloud environments, particularly focusing on AWS, and develop advanced machine learning models to solve complex business problems.
