About the position

The Trust & Safety team is dedicated to maintaining a safe online community, investing heavily in both human and machine-based moderation to swiftly remove harmful content. As a Data & Learning Analytics Architect within the Training & Performance organization, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and executing learning analytics that drive excellence in our learning programs. This position requires a hands-on leader who can create innovative solutions that are performance-based and focused on skills development, ensuring seamless integration into the workflow of our teams. In this role, you will collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including instructional designers and trainers, to analyze data from diverse sources such as learning management systems, surveys, and assessments. Your expertise in statistical analysis and data visualization will be crucial in identifying trends and patterns that inform our learning strategies. You will be responsible for managing data quality and governance, aligning learning analytics initiatives with business objectives, and communicating findings effectively to stakeholders through reports and presentations. Staying current with industry best practices in learning analytics and data science will be essential to ensure our solutions remain cutting-edge and impactful. As a leader, you will foster a culture of data-driven decision-making within the organization and guide a high-performing Data & Learning Analytics Team. Your contributions will not only enhance the effectiveness of our learning programs but also support our overarching mission to create a safe and engaging environment for TikTok users and content creators.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement vision and strategy for learning analytics within the organization
  • Own data management, data quality, data governance as it pertains to learning analytics, quality metrics, & learner performance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g. instructional designers, trainers, & QA) to analyze data from a variety of sources including learning management systems, surveys, and assessments
  • Use statistical analysis and data visualization techniques to identify trends and patterns in the data
  • Leverage data and learning analytics to inform, monitor, measure, and optimize learning strategies, ensuring they are engaging, effective, and equitable
  • Implement improvements as needed to maximize impact
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining the roadmap for T&P's data & learning analytics initiatives
  • Communicate findings to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner through reports, presentations, and other visual materials
  • Align learning analytics initiatives with business objectives
  • Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and trends in learning analytics & data science to ensure our solutions are cutting-edge and future-proof
  • Drive culture of data-driven decision-making within the organization
  • Lead a high-performing Data & Learning Analytics Team

Requirements

  • Master's degree (or equivalent education and/or experience) in quantitative fields such as Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Analytics, or related fields
  • 5+ years proven expertise as a Data & Learning Analytics Architect/Data Science showcasing a robust portfolio of successful learning solutions based on a data-driven approach and at least 3 years in a leadership role
  • Deep understanding and expertise with learning management systems (LMS), authoring tools, learning methodologies (eLearning, ILT, etc.) required
  • Experience in custom ETL design, implementation and maintenance
  • Experience in enterprise learning Systems (e.g. Learning Management Systems (LMS), Learning Content Management Systems (LCMS), Knowledge Management Systems (KMS), Electronic Performance Support Systems (EPSS), etc)
  • Demonstrated ability to design scalable, performance-based, and skills development-focused learning experiences across diverse modalities (eLearning, blended learning, instructor-led training) with strong analytical skills to extract insights from data, optimize learning outcomes, and utilize learning analytics dashboards
  • Strong understanding of data analysis techniques and tools such as Excel, SQL, and visualization software
