Astrion is seeking a Data Links & Communication Engineer Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our team at Hanscom AFB, MA. This position is integral to the Tactical Data Networks Enterprise (TDNE) program office within the Aerial Networks Division (AFLCMC/HNA). The selected candidate will provide expert-level engineering support for data links and communication systems, specifically focusing on the Second-Generation Anti-Jam Tactical Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Radio (SATURN) program. The TDNE is responsible for the development, delivery, and deployment of the next generation aerial layer network, which includes a portfolio of both legacy and advanced waveforms, as well as airborne network management and development efforts aimed at enhancing interoperability and connectivity. In this role, the engineer will interface with various federal and military organizations, including the Department of Defense (DoD), United States Air Force (USAF), and United States Army, ensuring that data link communications capabilities comply with applicable regulations and standards set by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), and National Security Agency (NSA). The engineer will also provide resources with extensive knowledge and experience in Developmental and Operational Test and Evaluation at both the sub-system and system levels, collaborating with organizations that manage the Command, Control, Communications, and Computers (C3) and encryption key distribution infrastructure necessary for controlling a networked system. The position requires advising and assisting the program Chief Engineer, Integrated Product Team (IPT) Leads, Program Managers (PMs), and joint combined test team customers on performance, schedule, and cost issues related to planning, communications, and control. The engineer will also provide technical advice on C4 issues, including pre-launch conditioning and planning, aircraft-weapon pre- and post-release communications, and real-time targeting. Additionally, the role demands expertise in Combat Net Radio (CNR) definition and documentation, interoperability testing, Joint Concept of Employment (CONEMP) development, and various tactical communication systems documentation and coordination.
