About the position

This position is responsible for ensuring the stability and integrity of the data network environment at Entergy Services, LLC. The role involves planning, designing, implementing, and operating the network environment and its components across the organization, with a focus on supporting business requests and maintaining network performance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide detailed network designs in support of business requests, including routing, switching, load balancer, DDI, and wireless technologies.
  • Develop implementation plans for simple and complex change requests.
  • Participate in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links.
  • Create and maintain documentation related to network configuration, mapping, processes, and service records.
  • Oversee and implement new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.
  • Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and training plans for network administration and disaster recovery.
  • Interact and coordinate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors for network products and services.
  • Respond as the Data Network representative in an 'on-call' 24x7 rotation to resolve emergent issues.
  • Work with Business and Project Management teams to review strategies and requirements, ensuring business and functional requirements are maintained.
  • Capture business capability requirements and create an actionable IT-Networking roadmap.
  • Support infrastructure leadership in identifying opportunities for emerging technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in IT consulting.
  • 3+ years' solution design experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Network Technologies including networking protocols, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and network management tools.
  • Understanding of routing and switching technologies, as well as network security technologies (firewalls, IDS, IPS).
  • Proficient in routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, IS-IS) and other networking features.
  • Strong understanding of IP addressing design.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to document business requirements and develop technical solutions.
  • Experience in financial management of project deliverables.
  • Experience as the technical lead for major implementation and/or network projects.

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • IT Consultant - Network Associate/Professional level certifications (e.g., CCNA/CCNP, JNCIA/JNCIP).
  • Sr IT Consultant - Network Professional/Expert level certifications (e.g., CCNP/CCIE, JNCIP/JNCIE).
  • Cloud certifications.
