About the position

The Data & Operations Analyst at Stevens Institute of Technology plays a crucial role in supporting the Stevens Career Center, which caters to a diverse student body pursuing various degrees. Reporting directly to the Director of Employer Relations & Career Center Operations, this position is integral to the management of data and technology within the center. The analyst will be responsible for developing and implementing data collection processes that gather vital information related to the Co-op Program, internships, and post-graduate job placements. This role requires a strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to create and utilize Pivot Tables, and advanced formulas such as SUMIF, VLOOKUP, and AVERAGEIF, among others. The analyst will work with large datasets, performing data cleansing and analysis to derive actionable insights that enhance both student and employer experiences. In addition to data management, the Data & Operations Analyst will design and produce performance reports for the career center, including annual career outcomes and monthly activity dashboards. The role also involves creating visually engaging PowerPoint presentations to effectively communicate data insights and trends to various stakeholders. As the technology expert for the career center, the analyst will manage and support various online platforms, including Handshake, Big Interview, Zoom, Qualtrics, and Smartsheet. Responsibilities also include creating and managing surveys and questionnaires, maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information, and ensuring compliance with university policies regarding data security. The analyst will also be involved in troubleshooting technology-related queries from students and employers, supporting employer engagement initiatives, and assisting in the planning and execution of career center events. The position requires flexibility, as occasional evening and weekend work may be necessary. Overall, the Data & Operations Analyst is expected to contribute significantly to the strategic planning and operational improvements of the Stevens Career Center, ensuring that it meets the needs of its diverse student population.

Responsibilities

  • Develop data collection processes to gather information related to the Stevens Co-op Program, internships, and post-graduate job placement.
  • Use Excel to review, manipulate, and analyze data, including the creation of formulas, pivot tables, and data visualizations.
  • Evaluate data in Excel to draw valuable insights for improving student and employer experiences.
  • Design and create career center performance reports including annual career outcomes and monthly activity dashboards.
  • Create visually engaging PowerPoint presentations to communicate data insights and trends.
  • Serve as the expert on all career center technology and online platforms such as Handshake, Big Interview, Zoom, Qualtrics, and Smartsheet.
  • Create, distribute, and manage surveys, questionnaires, and other data collection methodologies.
  • Maintain confidential and sensitive information, securing and protecting all career center data.
  • Manage budgets responsibly and user accounts across all career center technology platforms.
  • Maintain an organized and up-to-date database of career center information.
  • Present data findings and insights through reports and presentations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve questions raised by students and employers related to career center technology.
  • Support employer engagement and talent development teams as needed.
  • Work closely with the Executive Director and career center staff to provide ad hoc reports and data as needed.
  • Support the planning and execution of all career center events, as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree or equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Minimum 3 years experience analyzing data sets and drawing sound conclusions.
  • Minimum 3 years experience writing clear and concise reports and creating impactful PowerPoint presentations.
  • Experience handling data with a high degree of accuracy, detail, and confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational skills and understanding of data analysis practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience using platforms such as Workday and Smartsheet.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
