About the position

As a Data Operations Analyst on our Data Operations team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the investment lifecycle within a global infrastructure. This position is hybrid, allowing for both remote work and in-office presence in Des Moines, Iowa. You will independently perform daily tasks, conduct data analysis, and handle investment valuation, along with addressing ad hoc requests. Your responsibilities will include collecting and verifying investment data, ensuring that accurate and up-to-date security information is shared across various operational systems that encompass multiple asset classes, including Fixed Income, Equities, and Derivatives. You will support global investment initiatives by participating in projects, process reviews, and system improvements. Additionally, you will proactively diagnose and manage high-risk issues by reviewing and identifying operational improvements to ensure that data is handled and processed accurately throughout the investment lifecycle. Conducting special analyses and studies to meet quality standards, including data governance and audit requirements, will also be part of your role. You will collaborate with both internal and external personnel to obtain information necessary for resolving issues and enhancing your understanding of Principal Global Investors' products, team procedures, and clients' needs. This position operates at the intersection of financial services and technology, contributing to the mission of making financial security accessible to all.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and verify investment data while ensuring accurate and up to date security information is shared across various operational systems encompassing multiple asset classes including Fixed Income, Equities, and Derivatives.
  • Support global investment initiatives through participation in projects, process reviews and/or system improvements.
  • Proactively diagnose and manage high risk issues by reviewing and identifying operational improvements to ensure that data is handled and processed accurately and effectively throughout the investment lifecycle.
  • Conduct special analyses and/or studies to ensure quality standards are met including data governance and audit requirements.
  • Collaborate and partner with internal and external personnel to obtain information to resolve issues.
  • Enhance understanding of Principal Global Investors' products, team procedures, and clients' needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, in accounting, finance, economics or business required.
  • A minimum of 1+ years' work experience in investment/mutual fund operations or related field preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, time management and communication skills.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate and timely information.
  • Strong prioritization and flexibility as business needs change.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of financial services and investment related terminology.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships, exercise flexibility and effectively connect with internal and external contacts at all levels.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment under limited direct supervision.
