About the position

As an Analyst, Data Management on our Data Operations team (hybrid remote/in Des Moines office), you'll independently perform daily tasks, data analysis, investment valuation, and ad hoc requests to support the investment lifecycle within a global infrastructure. The team operates in a fast-paced environment that places an emphasis on continuous learning, collaboration, and maintaining an equitable and fun working environment. Your role will involve collecting and verifying investment data while ensuring accurate and up-to-date security information is shared across various operational systems encompassing multiple asset classes including Fixed Income, Equities, and Derivatives. You will support global investment initiatives through participation in projects, process reviews, and/or system improvements. Proactively diagnosing and managing high-risk issues will be crucial, as you will review and identify operational improvements to ensure that data is handled and processed accurately and effectively throughout the investment lifecycle. Additionally, you will conduct special analyses and/or studies to ensure quality standards are met, including data governance and audit requirements. Collaboration is key, as you will partner with internal and external personnel to obtain information to resolve issues. Enhancing your understanding of Principal Global Investors' products, team procedures, and clients' needs will also be an essential part of your role.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and verify investment data while ensuring accurate and up to date security information is shared across various operational systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, in accounting, finance, economics or business required.
  • A minimum of 1+ years' work experience in investment/mutual fund operations or related field preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, time management and communication skills.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate and timely information.
  • Strong prioritization and flexibility as business needs change.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of financial services and investment related terminology.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships, exercise flexibility and effectively connect with internal and external contacts at all levels.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment under limited direct supervision.
  • Bloomberg knowledge, SQL, and/or bot development.
