About the position

The Data Platform Engineering Manager at Marsh McLennan Agency (MMA) is responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership to the Data Platform Engineering team. This role involves overseeing the implementation of strategies to enhance data reliability and minimize redundancies, directing the development and operation of MMA's data platform, and ensuring it is scalable, reliable, and secure. The manager will establish KPIs and metrics to measure engineering performance, define and execute the data platform roadmap, and design robust data platforms to support various business applications and analytics.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and leadership to the Data Platform Engineering team.
• Oversee the implementation of strategies designed to enhance data reliability and minimize redundancies.
• Direct the development and operation of MMA's data platform, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
• Establish KPIs and metrics to measure engineering performance and productivity.
• Define and execute the data platform roadmap.
• Design robust, scalable data platforms to support various business applications and analytics.

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in data engineering, platform engineering, or related fields.
• Deep expertise in designing and building distributed data systems and large-scale data warehouses.
• Over 10 years of experience building large-scale data analytics platforms using real-time streaming analytics, data warehouses, data lakes, Data Pipelines, ETL processes, and business intelligence tools at scale.
• 5 to 7 years of experience in Cloud database technologies.
• Hands-on experience architecting and building secure, scalable, and flexible enterprise data projects in Microsoft Azure.
• Strong interpersonal skills, capable of delivering executive-level presentations.
