About the position

Data & Pricing Analyst at McCauley Textron Aviation plays a pivotal role in supporting the organization by developing and optimizing strategic initiatives through actionable insights derived from both internal and external data. This position is integral to business growth, utilizing business intelligence software and tools to mine complex datasets, identify historical trends, and visualize large amounts of data. The Data Analyst is also responsible for data governance, ensuring the creation and maintenance of data standards and quality. In addition to data analysis, the role encompasses pricing analysis, where the analyst will maintain pricing for all McCauley parts, liaising with Cost Accounting, vendors, and buyers to ensure accurate pricing updates and compliance with contracts. The Data Analyst will perform various data-mining and statistical techniques to extract insights that support business objectives. Acting as an internal consultant, the analyst will conduct regular and ad-hoc analyses, converting data into strategic assets. Collaboration across functions is essential to develop and implement new processes, while managing and interpreting large volumes of data to maintain high data quality standards. The role involves leveraging tools like PowerBi, Alteryx, and SQL to develop and maintain reports that measure daily business activities, as well as identifying new data sources to enhance market intelligence and pricing strategies. Furthermore, the analyst will assist in evaluating and maintaining pricing from both internal and external suppliers, ensuring accuracy and consistency within McCauley’s pricing system. This includes analyzing the impact of proposed price changes and providing recommendations based on thorough analysis. The position also requires performing competitive price analysis and maintaining records of price reviews, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the pricing strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Perform data analysis via various data-mining and statistical techniques to gain insights from data to support business objectives.
  • Serve as an internal consultant to McCauley leaders by conducting regular and ad-hoc analyses to convert data into strategic assets.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to develop and implement new processes.
  • Collect, manage, analyze, and interpret large volumes of data while ensuring a high level of data quality.
  • Leverage tools to develop and maintain curated data sets for use in analysis.
  • Develop and maintain data reports measuring daily business activities in PowerBi, Alteryx, and other tools using query languages and formula libraries such as SQL and DAX.
  • Identify and acquire new data sources to further inform market intelligence and pricing strategy.
  • Work to improve data quality within McCauley by assisting data governance efforts in creating and maintaining data quality standards.
  • Provide recommendations to the business for new initiatives to support business objectives.
  • Interface with other data professionals throughout the organization to embrace cross-functional growth in analytics capabilities.
  • Assist in evaluating and maintaining pricing from internal and external supplier sources to ensure accuracy and consistency of McCauley's pricing system.
  • Ensure supplier compliance to contractual pricing agreements and resolve any discrepancies generated from the same.
  • Provide support in analyzing the impact of proposed price/discount or policy changes to determine financial impact of such changes and proposals.
  • Recommend changes based on results of analysis.
  • Aid in performing competitive price analysis and identify purchased part standard discrepancies.
  • Assist in record maintenance of outstanding and completed price reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required in Business Administration, Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Data Analytics, or other related field.
  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience focused on data collection, utilization, analysis, and pricing.
  • Aviation experience preferred.
  • Drive and desire to excel in an autonomous environment.
  • Bias for action - ability to take initiative and act on curiosities.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Ability to identify relevant metrics and present technical data to a broad audience.
  • Desire and ability to learn and leverage new software tools and processes in a self-learning environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Preferred experience with PowerBi, Tableau, or other data visualization software.
  • Preferred experience with Lawson, R, Python, SQL or Alteryx.
  • Strong skills with MS Office including Excel and PowerPoint.
