About the position

The University of Cincinnati (UC) College of Medicine is seeking a full-time Data Analyst to provide essential data analytic support for the College of Medicine. This role is crucial in maintaining and managing system data across various University of Cincinnati databases. As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, UC has a strong reputation for training top-tier healthcare professionals and developing innovative procedures and research that enhance patient health and clinical care. The Data Analyst will work in a hybrid environment, allowing for flexibility in work location. In this position, the Data Analyst will conduct research and collect data to support the continual development of products and reports that align with the objectives of UC COM and UC Physicians, Inc. The role involves performing system analysis, data analysis, and programming using tools such as Excel, Access, and SQL Server. The Data Analyst will be responsible for identifying and resolving data-related issues, ensuring the integrity and quality of the data collected, and processing data to develop reports for various projects. Additionally, the Data Analyst will conceptualize data and effectively present this information to the team and key stakeholders. Communication with business users and IT/Data Engineering teams is essential to maintain project management, prioritize development, and enhance the functionality of information products. The role also includes responsibilities related to database design, security, data storage, and management, ensuring the smooth operation of databases. The Data Analyst will act as a knowledge source for all Accounting and Financial database systems and tools, and will support the department during the budget season from December to March, which may require weekend work. Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and collect data to support product/report development for UC COM/UC Physicians, Inc objectives.
  • Perform system analysis, data analysis, or programming using Excel, Access, and SQL Server.
  • Identify and resolve data-related problems.
  • Ensure high-quality data collection and maintain data integrity.
  • Process data and develop reports on various projects.
  • Conceptualize data and present findings effectively to the team and stakeholders.
  • Communicate with business users and IT/Data Engineering teams for project management and prioritization.
  • Develop and prepare information products for organizational use.
  • Manage database design, security, data storage, and overall management.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of databases.
  • Act as a knowledge source for Accounting and Financial database systems and tools.
  • Support the department during budget season (December - March) for troubleshooting on an on-call basis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • Five (5) years of relevant work experience or specialized training can substitute for the education requirement.
  • One (1) year of database management or related experience.
  • Familiarity with Access, SQL Server (SSMS), PowerBI, and other data analysis tools.
  • Advanced Excel skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with data visualization tools such as PowerBI.
  • Knowledge of healthcare data management practices.
