About the position

The Data & Research Scientist role is focused on leveraging data to solve complex business problems through advanced analysis, automation, and effective storytelling. This position requires a strong background in data architecture, statistical analysis, and the ability to mentor junior team members while fostering a collaborative environment. The role also emphasizes staying updated on technological advancements and applying innovative solutions to enhance research and strategy objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct advanced data analysis and automation, including in-depth analysis and development of automation tools for data mining.
  • Mentor junior researchers and data scientists to enhance their analytical skills and foster a collaborative learning environment.
  • Continuously update knowledge on the latest software and hardware innovations and ideate on their application.
  • Establish strong working relationships with interdisciplinary teams including Enterprise Data and Analytics and IT.
  • Drive the acquisition of new data and refine existing datasets to ensure quality and relevance for ongoing projects.
  • Create best practices for research instrumentation and experimentation and share these practices with peer teams.
  • Develop analytics to support complex event processing and real-time data analysis in big data contexts.
  • Serve as an expert in predictive and prescriptive analytics, ensuring research aligns with industry best practices.
  • Use a structured approach for communicating data insights through data storytelling.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience using data to solve problems, hypothesis testing, and creating visualizations and storytelling to address business problems.
  • 8+ years of experience in data architecture and database management.
  • 8+ years of professional development experience.
  • Solid experience with Big Data technologies in Data Bricks platform using Python/R.
  • Master's degree in STEM fields required; Ph.D. in STEM fields preferred.
  • Research/Data Science/Analytics background with sharp technical/statistical/math skills.
  • Strong data storytelling, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to liaise with business leads and create tangible next steps from data to improve business outcomes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Auto industry experience preferred, but not mandatory.
