About the position

The Enterprise Data Risk Specialist at Northern Trust is responsible for managing complex data risk initiatives and ensuring compliance with data regulations across the organization. This role involves collaboration with various teams to address regulatory inquiries and internal audit requests, while maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations and industry best practices. The specialist will also participate in internal and industry forums to identify potential data risks and contribute to shaping industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex initiatives and ambiguous issues related to Data Risk and Regulations across the enterprise.
• Collaborate with business and technology teams to improve efficiency and compliance with Data Policies and Standards.
• Gather necessary information and documentation from internal teams to respond to regulatory inquiries and audit requests.
• Review and understand regulatory requirements and maintain knowledge of relevant regulations and industry best practices.
• Develop detailed responses to regulatory inquiries and audit requests.
• Participate in internal committees and industry forums to identify potential data risks and influence industry change.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or 4 additional years of work history.
• 8 or more years of risk and data experience, including audit response experience or similar.
• In-depth knowledge of regulations, federal, state, and local laws related to data acquired through formal education and work experience.
• Excellent analytical skills to validate or challenge data solutions.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to consult with partners/clients and document data solutions.
• Leadership and organizational awareness skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Preferred knowledge of Risk Data Aggregation and Risk Reporting Regulatory expectations.
