About The Position

As a Data Science Analyst/Engineer at GDIT, you will deliver innovative solutions to complex problems, focusing on application development and enhancing the end-user experience. This role involves working closely with the Data Engineering Team to build and maintain the Metadata Application Profile (MAP), ensuring the integration and quality of metadata across various data stores to support intelligence operations.

Requirements

• 6+ years of Data/Systems engineering experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or related technical/scientific fields, or an additional 4 years of related experience.
• Excellent communication, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Strong technical skills and ability to troubleshoot technology problems.
• Excellent skills with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Notepad++).

Nice To Haves

• Familiar with metadata standards (NMF, D&R IDM, DDMS, PUBS).
• Familiar with Solr Apache (build queries from UI or CMD line).
• Experience with Government and DoD analysis, reporting, and geospatial analysis tools.
• Familiar with reading and interpreting XML and XSD files.
• Experience with geospatial analysis and terminology.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the Lead Data Science Librarian to build and maintain the MAP.
• Assess metadata quality and plan for metadata enhancement and remediation.
• Determine and monitor MAP accuracy by conducting queries against data holdings.
• Support Systems Engineers and Software Developers by creating design documents for new Data Stores.
• Maintain relationships with government data stewards and system Data Store owners.
• Investigate and respond to tickets/issues associated with metadata discrepancies.
