About the position

The Data Science Analyst II position at CareOregon is responsible for identifying opportunities and developing algorithms, models, and data products to derive insights from healthcare data. This role focuses on translating complex data into actionable information for decision-makers, particularly in areas such as healthcare service utilization, financial trends, and member/provider experiences. The analyst will also ensure data integrity and completeness while mentoring junior analysts and collaborating across departments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop research methods and data analysis plans related to healthcare utilization, cost trends, and financial forecasting.
  • Expertly use software tools to retrieve, edit, and tabulate data from various databases and files.
  • Conduct descriptive, prescriptive, and predictive analyses.
  • Summarize complex data for leadership in various formats such as statistical summaries, narratives, charts, tables, and graphs.
  • Contribute to the research and development of models, algorithms, and analysis tools for self-service data products.
  • Develop visual reporting using data visualization tools such as Tableau.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and collaborate with other experts to identify opportunities for building data products.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in data analysis and statistical modeling in a healthcare context.
  • Strong proficiency in data visualization tools, particularly Tableau.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python or R for data analysis.
  • Ability to communicate complex data insights effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in mentoring or training junior analysts.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with healthcare claims data and enrollment processes.
  • Knowledge of machine learning techniques and their application in healthcare analytics.
