About the position

Context Labs is seeking a Data Science Architect to lead the architectural design of scalable data processes and structures for advanced analytics and data science applications in the oil & gas industry. This role involves collaborating with technical teams and executives to support the company's Decarbonization as a Service platform, utilizing Immutably Data Fabric technology. The architect will translate business requirements into technical specifications, develop prototypes, and guide execution through effective communication and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a complete functional understanding of the technology and analytics roadmap.
  • Collaborate with Executive and Senior Technical teams to design the enterprise data fabric.
  • Lead the design of architectural elements for advanced analytics and data science applications.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications, including data feeds and transformations.
  • Develop prototypes and architectural documentation to communicate design concepts.
  • Perform exploratory and diagnostic data analysis to derive business insights.
  • Develop predictive models using various analysis techniques.
  • Work independently to resolve technical conflicts and ambiguities.
  • Report on analysis and prototyping results clearly and concisely.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in international offices.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and/or Scala; experience with JavaScript is a plus.
  • Functional understanding of AI/machine learning techniques and algorithms.
  • Experience with Python's data science ecosystem including NumPy, Pandas, and Scikit-Learn.
  • Proficiency in SQL for data transformation and aggregation.
  • Familiarity with conceptual and logical data modeling principles.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in data analysis and platform development in oil & gas or climate science applications.
  • 10+ years of experience in a relevant data science role.
  • Master's degree in computer science, data analytics, applied mathematics, or related field.
  • Degree in environmental science or climate science with strong data analysis experience.
