The Data Science Lead Analyst, in collaboration with Business Unit and in connection with individual projects, will analyze and evaluate large quantities of data. Leveraging your advanced data analysis skills, you will create, develop, and iterate innovative approaches to answer business questions that will inform the Business Unit engagements. You will apply a data-driven analytical approach to a variety of questions related to MFS's operations, risks, and controls. Your work will be project-oriented: you will often be responsible for the entire analytical process - from working with members of the team to identify their need for analytics, data preparation, to outlining the type of solution (implementation and interpretation of the results). You will constructively discuss your results and potential findings with members of the team and the other MFS Business Units.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in data sciences or applied Math or Statistics with significant programming experience, Or Computer Sciences with strong Math background
  • 5-6+ years' work experience in a data analytics/science role
  • Proficiency in Python or R and SQL or Q
  • Experience with analyzing complex, high volume, high dimensionality data from varying sources and both structured and unstructured
  • Advanced knowledge of machine learning with solid understanding of data mining, regression, decision trees, and neural networks
  • Knowledge of Model evaluation with techniques such as cross-validation, confusion matrix and ROC curves
  • Proficiency with data visualization and business intelligence platforms such as Tableau, Power BI or similar
  • Self-starter, and ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with traders, portfolio managers and business analysts
  • Skills to communicate complex ideas effectively and willingness to understand the business implications of a wide variety of data

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with financial industry data (Bloomberg, tick level data, etc.)
  • Keen interest to learn new technologies and experiment with innovative solutions
  • Experience with Cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and technology capabilities
  • Experience working in a continuous integration environment, i.e., automated build and code scanning is preferred
  • Strong interest in the Investment management and Trading functions

Responsibilities

  • Working with BU to answer business questions with data analytics solutions
  • Identifying and preparing the data (from internal and external sources) through direct coordination with MFS business areas and IT
  • Work with cross-functional stakeholders and leaders to gather and synthesize relevant data, analyze, and develop final recommendations
  • Support BU engagement teams on individual projects that may have specific data analytic needs
  • Contribute to BU's data analytics strategy, including the evaluation of continuous monitoring techniques by leveraging data and supporting project teams on data analytics-related topics
  • Building models using advanced analytical techniques, including descriptive, prescriptive, and other advanced analytical techniques
  • Support BU in the development of management reporting related to Departmental activities and projects
  • Develop and provide periodic departmental trainings on data analytics
