About the position

The Data Science/Machine Learning Senior Consultant at AlixPartners is responsible for addressing complex challenges faced by clients, particularly in financially secure, under-performing, and distressed companies. This role involves working closely with senior leadership to create impactful data-driven solutions, including the design and execution of ETL workflows, statistical models, and data visualizations. The consultant will leverage their expertise in data science and machine learning to enhance data insights and drive measurable outcomes for clients.

Responsibilities

  • Create ETL workflows, scripts, statistical models, and visualizations.
  • Design, build, test, execute, and support data migration, cleansing, and wrangling processes.
  • Select features and build classifiers using machine learning techniques.
  • Execute machine learning projects using state-of-the-art methods.
  • Extend company data with third-party sources when needed.
  • Create automated anomaly detection systems and track their performance.
  • Collect data from various corporate databases, including SQL and no-SQL databases.
  • Parse data from poorly structured XML and invalid HTML documents.
  • Use regular expressions to extract information from unstructured text documents.
  • Automate repetitive tasks with scripts.
  • Build effective ETL processes for data ingestion flow.
  • Design database models and advanced dimensional schemas to ensure data quality and consistency.
  • Apply business intelligence patterns and data management techniques.
  • Understand cloud architectures, with knowledge in Azure, AWS, or GCP.

Requirements

  • Detailed understanding of data structures across multiple systems.
  • Experience with data science toolkits such as Python, PySpark, or R.
  • Excellent understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms (e.g., k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests).
  • Advanced SQL skills, including CTEs and window functions.
  • Ability to review and analyze legacy code/scripts for data processing logic.

Nice-to-haves
