About the position

At AlixPartners, the role involves working with financially secure, under-performing, and distressed companies to address complex challenges through data analysis and actionable insights. The position requires creating ETL workflows, statistical models, and visualizations while ensuring data quality and consistency. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise in data science and machine learning to drive measurable outcomes for clients, all within a hybrid work environment that promotes flexibility and work-life integration.

Responsibilities

  • Create ETL workflows, scripts, statistical models, and visualizations.
  • Design, build, test, execute, and support data migration, cleansing, and wrangling processes.
  • Select features and build classifiers using machine learning techniques.
  • Execute machine learning projects using state-of-the-art methods.
  • Extend company data with third-party sources when needed.
  • Create automated anomaly detection systems and track their performance.
  • Collect data from various corporate databases including SQL and no-SQL databases.
  • Parse data from poorly structured XML and invalid HTML documents.
  • Automate repetitive tasks with scripts.
  • Build effective and reliable ETL processes for data ingestion.
  • Design database models and advanced dimensional schemas to ensure data quality.
  • Demonstrate advanced SQL skills to work with extensive data.
  • Review and analyze legacy code/scripts to understand data processing logic.
  • Apply statistical learning languages to build predictive models.
  • Use interactive data visualization tools to present results compellingly.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a quantitative field.
  • 7+ years of applicable professional experience in data analysis and ETL processes.
  • Strong data-oriented personality with problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or C#.
  • Familiarity with ETL tools like Alteryx, KNIME, SSIS, Pentaho, or DataStage.
  • Ability to synthesize requests from team members at client sites.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
  • Experience with cloud architectures such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
  • Knowledge of distributed systems, especially HDFS and the Hadoop ecosystem.
