About the position

The Data Science Manager, Product at PayPal will lead the P2P Analytics team, focusing on data-driven decision-making to shape the strategy of consumer products. This role involves end-to-end ownership of key initiatives, designing experiments, and providing insights from P2P data to enhance the consumer experience and product performance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the P2P Analytics team and take ownership of key initiatives and projects.
  • Design and implement experimentation or A/B testing at scale to support new product launches.
  • Create visually appealing and easy-to-navigate data presentations for end-users.
  • Identify key metrics and develop executive-facing dashboards to track business progress.
  • Establish cause and effect relationships and communicate findings to stakeholders for data-driven decision-making.
  • Collaborate with Risk, Product, Marketing, and other teams to analyze performance trends and root causes.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders to anticipate and address executive inquiries.
  • Guide a team of Data Scientists in conducting deep dive analyses on business trends and packaging insights into presentations.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional experience in an analytical role.
  • Knowledge and experience in experimentation (Hypothesis Testing or A/B Testing).
  • Familiarity with Causal Inference Techniques and their applications.
  • Experience analyzing large, complex, multi-dimensional data sets.
  • Advanced SQL experience, preferably with Big Query analytics (Google Cloud).
  • Proficiency with database, spreadsheet, and statistical tools.
  • Experience in the consumer product space is highly preferred.
  • Ability to synthesize findings into coherent insights.
  • Experience with tools such as Python, Tableau, Jupyter Notebooks, Teradata, Hadoop/Hive, SQL, BigQuery is desirable.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills and ability to create actionable recommendations.
  • Advanced reporting skills using Tableau and/or Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in a quantitative field or equivalent experience.
