The TikTok Monetization Products data science team is dedicated to enabling and championing data-driven decision-making. As a Data Science Manager, you will work with large, complex data sets and solve difficult, non-routine analysis problems by applying advanced analytical methods as needed. Your responsibilities will include conducting comprehensive analyses that encompass data gathering, requirements specification, processing, ongoing deliverables, and presentations. You will also be tasked with building and managing a high-performance, responsive team of data scientists and analysts who can not only keep pace with the demands of the business but also pioneer innovative solutions in this space. In this role, you will develop a comprehensive knowledge of TikTok's data structures and metrics, advocating for necessary changes to support product development. You will forge deep partnerships with engineering and product teams to deliver on major cross-functional measurements, testing, and modeling efforts. Additionally, you will collaborate with Data Engineering to ensure data accuracy and consistency, which is critical for effective decision-making and strategy formulation.

Responsibilities

• Work with large, complex data sets and solve difficult, non-routine analysis problems using advanced analytical methods.
• Conduct analysis that includes data gathering, requirements specification, processing, analysis, ongoing deliverables, and presentations.
• Build and manage a high-performance, responsive team of data scientists and analysts.
• Build and prototype analysis pipelines to provide insights at scale.
• Develop comprehensive knowledge of TikTok data structures and metrics, advocating for changes where needed for product development.
• Develop deep partnerships with engineering and product teams to deliver on major cross-functional measurements, testing, and modeling efforts.
• Partner with Data Engineering to ensure data accuracy and consistency.

Requirements

• MS or PhD in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics, etc.
• 7+ years of experience in data science, algorithmic engineering, or machine learning.
• 3+ years of experience in managing and mentoring data science, data engineering, and analytics teams in a technology company.
• Experience with statistical software (e.g. R, Python, MATLAB) and database languages (e.g. SQL).
• Experience building data science models (Regression, Decision Trees, K-Means, etc.).
• Experience with large data sets and analytical tools, e.g. Hive, Spark.
• Demonstrated leadership and self-direction, with a willingness to teach others and learn new techniques.
• Demonstrated skills in selecting the right statistical tools for data analysis problems, along with effective written and verbal communication skills.
