About the position

The Data Scientist - AI/ML at Fifth Third Bank is responsible for performing data analysis and developing algorithms on both structured and unstructured data. This role focuses on delivering insights that drive profitable business decisions and supports business growth through value-added analysis and recommendations. The Data Scientist will work closely with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into actionable analytical solutions while ensuring compliance with the bank's risk policies.

Responsibilities

• Build large and complex information sets.
• Integrate and extract relevant information from structured and unstructured data to enable analytical solutions.
• Conduct advanced analytics leveraging predictive modeling, machine learning, simulation, and optimization techniques.
• Develop and manage analyses and algorithms that generate actionable insights to improve long-term revenue.
• Partner with key stakeholders to understand business needs and create buy-in for analytics approaches.
• Transform formulated problems into implementation plans for experiments, developing data sources and applying appropriate methods and algorithms.
• Provide ad hoc reporting and analytics to support requests from various lines of business.
• Contribute to the creation of detailed project plans, work assignments, and target dates.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
• Typically requires a minimum of 4-5 years of work experience.
• Database and analytical experience required.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to effectively manage time and work independently.
• Strong PC skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).

• Advanced degrees preferred but not required.
