About the position

The Data Scientist/Analyst will be part of a data analytics and support services team, responsible for providing data science, architecture, and analytics support. This role involves analyzing, verifying, designing, refining, modernizing, and maintaining data models and component views within various client systems. The position requires conducting gap analyses of current data models and logic, ensuring accurate representation in reporting capabilities, and making recommendations for utilizing big data sets for population health reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of data marts, data structures, functions, data warehouse fact & dimension tables, views, and indexes.
  • Interact with Functional Analysts, Project Managers, ETL developers, and end users regarding data needs.
  • Write complex SQL queries and perform SQL performance tuning.
  • Work with SOAP and RESTful Web services.
  • Develop web-based solutions using HTML, CSS, Javascript, JSON.
  • Utilize advanced business intelligence skills and apply data architecture, data visualization, and reporting techniques.
  • Model reporting marts/layers for multiple BI Tools.
  • Conduct data model reviews with project team members and capture technical metadata through data modeling tools.
  • Gather analyst requirements, create and organize data stores, and optimize data retrieval processes.
  • Document all scripts used for extracting/processing data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Bioinformatics, Physics, Operations Research, or related fields.
  • 6+ years of practical experience in data analysis or related fields.
  • Proficiency in SQL or Tableau.
  • Possess and maintain an IT I level certification and an IAT II certification as per DoD standards.
  • Experience in federal/military programming or project exposure.
  • Understanding of a broad range of database competencies and system integration issues.
  • Ability to define overall data architecture during project phases.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong mathematical/statistics background with an understanding of algorithms and methods.
  • Experience assessing impacts of legacy systems.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
