About the position

The Data Scientist/Analyst position at KaiHonua, LLC involves supporting a data analytics and support services team in providing data science and analytics support. The role focuses on analyzing, verifying, designing, refining, modernizing, and maintaining data models and component views within various client systems. The analyst will conduct gap analyses to identify and address deficiencies in data models, ensuring accurate representation of data logic and business rules in reporting capabilities. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to structure and analyze big data sets for population health reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of data marts, data structures, functions, data warehouse fact & dimension tables, views, and indexes.
  • Interact with Functional Analysts, Project Managers, ETL developers, and end users regarding data needs.
  • Write complex SQL queries and perform SQL performance tuning.
  • Work with SOAP and RESTful Web services.
  • Develop web-based solutions using HTML, CSS, Javascript, JSON.
  • Utilize advanced business intelligence skills and proficiency in data architecture, data visualization, and reporting.
  • Conduct data model reviews with project team members and capture technical metadata through data modeling tools.
  • Gather analyst requirements, create and organize data stores, and optimize data retrieval processes.
  • Support the review and provide input on Business Rules Document(s).
  • Document all scripts used for extracting/processing data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Bioinformatics, Physics, Operations Research, or related fields.
  • 6+ years of practical experience in data analysis or related fields.
  • Experience with SQL or Tableau preferred.
  • Possess and maintain an IT I level certification and an IAT II certification as per DoD standards.
  • Understanding and experience in a broad range of database competencies.
  • Experience assessing impacts of legacy systems and addressing data-related problems of system integration and compatibility.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Strong data extraction and processing skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Federal/Military programming or project exposure.
  • Experience defining an overall data architecture during project phases.
