About the position

The Data Scientist role within the AWS US Federal Professional Services team focuses on designing, building, and implementing AI algorithms to support the US Intelligence Community. This position involves collaborating with customers to understand their data challenges and developing tailored solutions that leverage machine learning methods. The role requires a strong background in both traditional and generative AI, as well as excellent communication skills to effectively engage with stakeholders and drive innovation in data science and AI.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with AI/ML scientists and architects to research, design, develop, and evaluate cutting-edge AI algorithms to address real-world challenges.
  • Interact with customers directly to understand the business problem and aid them in the implementation of AI solutions.
  • Deliver briefings and deep dive sessions to customers, guiding them on adoption patterns and paths to production.
  • Create and deliver best practice recommendations, tutorials, blog posts, sample code, and presentations adapted to technical, business, and executive stakeholders.
  • Provide customer and market feedback to Product and Engineering teams to help define product direction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience or Master's degree and 2 years of experience.
  • 3+ years of experience building models for business applications.
  • Experience in algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, high-performance computing, neural deep learning methods, and/or machine learning.
  • Experience using Python and hands-on experience building models with deep learning frameworks like Tensorflow, Keras, PyTorch, or MXNet.
  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph.

Nice-to-haves

  • PhD or Master's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, operations research, or in a highly quantitative field.
  • Practical experience in solving complex problems in an applied environment.
  • Hands-on experience building models with deep learning frameworks like PyTorch, Tensorflow, or JAX.
