About the position

The Data Scientist/Database Administrator role at Eccalon LLC is designed for a highly skilled professional with expertise in both data science and database management. This position focuses on analyzing complex datasets from Government and Commercial sources, developing data-driven solutions, and ensuring the security and effective management of databases. The ideal candidate will leverage statistical analysis and data modeling techniques to extract insights and support decision-making processes within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough analysis of Government and Commercial datasets to extract meaningful insights and patterns.
  • Apply statistical and machine learning techniques to develop predictive models and data-driven solutions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and define business problems that can be addressed through data analysis.
  • Develop and implement data cleaning, preprocessing, and transformation techniques to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
  • Identify and recommend appropriate data models and methodologies to optimize data analysis processes.
  • Design, implement, and manage secure and scalable databases to store and organize large volumes of data.
  • Ensure the integrity, reliability, and performance of databases through monitoring, optimization, and maintenance activities.
  • Develop and enforce data security protocols, including access controls, encryption, and backup and recovery procedures.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to resolve database-related issues and provide technical support when required.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in database technologies, recommending and implementing improvements as needed.
  • Create compelling visualizations and dashboards to effectively communicate data insights and trends to stakeholders.
  • Generate regular reports and presentations summarizing key findings, trends, and recommendations.
  • Work closely with business users to understand their reporting needs and develop customized solutions to meet their requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, software developers, and business analysts, to drive data initiatives.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts and findings to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Participate in knowledge sharing activities, providing guidance and mentorship to junior team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in data analysis, data modeling, and statistical analysis.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle).
  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra) and Big Data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) is a plus.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R for data analysis and statistical modeling.
  • Experience working with both Government and Commercial datasets is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of data privacy regulations, security best practices, and compliance standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities effectively.
