About the position

The Data Scientist / Decision Scientist role at CVS Health is focused on leveraging advanced analytics and data science techniques to enhance health care delivery. This position is part of the Analytics & Behavior Change team, which aims to provide insights that inform provider networks and engagement strategies, ultimately supporting members on their health and wellness journeys. The role involves developing algorithms, statistical models, and data visualization tools to solve complex analytical problems and improve network performance and consumer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Participating in the development, validation, and delivery of algorithms, statistical models, and reporting tools.
  • Solving moderately complex analytical problems.
  • Developing, validating, and executing algorithms and predictive models to investigate problems, detect patterns, and recommend solutions.
  • Exploring, examining, and interpreting large volumes of data in various forms.
  • Performing analyses of structured and unstructured data to solve moderately complex business problems, utilizing advanced statistical techniques and mathematical analyses.
  • Developing data structures and pipelines to organize, collect, and standardize data that helps generate insights and addresses reporting needs.
  • Using data visualization techniques to effectively communicate analytical results and support business decisions.
  • Creating and evaluating the data needs of assigned projects and assuring the integrity of the data.
  • Demonstrating good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to present information to various audiences.
  • Effectively resolving problems and roadblocks as they occur.
  • Demonstrating proficiency in several areas of data modeling, machine learning algorithms, statistical analysis, data engineering, and data visualization.
  • Ability to work with large data sets from multiple data sources.

Requirements

  • 2+ years' experience in Data Scientist or Decision Scientist role
  • 2+ years' experience in programming in Python using Pandas for data manipulation
  • 2+ years' experience writing strong, complex, and efficient queries in SQL
  • 1+ years' experience working in Cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure)
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Economics, Physics, Engineering, or related discipline
