The teams within USDS span across Trust & Safety, Security & Privacy, Engineering, User & Product Ops, Corporate Functions, and more, all working towards this goal. The E-Commerce Risk Control team specifically works to minimize the impact of inauthentic behaviors on TikTok's E-Commerce platforms. This includes addressing various business risk areas such as account integrity, incentive abuse, malicious activities, brushing, click-farming, and information leakage. As a member of this team, you will have the unique opportunity to engage with the company's strategic security initiatives, particularly in developing scalable, robust, intelligent, and privacy-safe systems and solutions. The challenges faced are not typical day-to-day technical puzzles; instead, you will be part of a team that is innovating solutions to unprecedented challenges in a rapidly evolving product ecosystem. The work is designed to be fast-paced and impactful, allowing for quick and significant contributions to the company's objectives.

Responsibilities

• Build rules, algorithms, and machine learning models to respond to and mitigate business risks in TikTok products/platforms, including account integrity, scalper, deal-hunter, malicious activities, brushing, click-farming, and information leakage.
• Analyze business and security data to uncover evolving attack patterns, identify weaknesses and opportunities in risk defense solutions, and explore new areas based on these discoveries.
• Define risk control measurements, quantify, generalize, and monitor risk-related business and operational metrics, and align risk teams and stakeholders on risk control numeric goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, Machine Learning, or other relevant STEM majors.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with machine learning tools such as R, Python, Spark, SageMaker, TensorFlow, or similar.
• Experience in machine learning and statistical techniques including classification, clustering, regression, statistical inference, collaborative filtering, natural language processing, experimental design, and feature engineering.
• Experience with deep learning and gradient boosting techniques.
• Understanding and experience with relational data sets, data warehouses, data mining, and data analysis techniques.
• Ability to think creatively and solve complex problems.

Nice-to-haves

• A PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Operations Research, or a relevant field.
• 2+ years of industry experience in predictive modeling and analysis.
• Strong communication and influencing skills.
• Experience in e-commerce or online companies in fraud/risk control functions.
