As a Data Scientist within PNC's Enterprise Fraud Organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA. This position will own the fraud mitigation plan for early account monitoring. Specific duties include identifying and understanding fraud patterns, maintaining and proposing countermeasures, and presenting findings to leadership/management. This position requires collaborating with partners in the line of business, the Enterprise Fraud Organization, Operations, Technology, Modeling, Legal, and other stakeholders. To be successful in this role, one must be comfortable working in a rapid pace environment due to the nature of the underlying work and potential loss that could be incurred. Skillsets include statistical and analytical capabilities with preference given to modeling experience as well as SQL (Toad, Python, SAS, R) specific to Hadoop, Oracle, and Teradata and techniques specifically working with very large datasets. Fraud and/or financial crimes experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze data to identify and understand fraud patterns
  • Work with stakeholders in PNC to balance fraud loss with client experience and business growth
  • Participate with industry groups and peers
  • Collaborate with other EFO, security, technology, and product partners on comprehensive solutions
  • Perform analytical tasks on vast amounts of structured and unstructured data to extract actionable business insights
  • Participate in the data gathering, data processing and data mining of large and complex datasets
  • Develop algorithms using advanced mathematical and statistical techniques like machine learning to predict business outcomes and recommend optimal actions to management
  • Run analytical experiments in a methodical manner to find opportunities for product and process optimization
  • Assist in the presentation of business insights to management using visualization technologies and data storytelling
  • Partner with Data Architects, Data Analysts, Data Engineers and Visualization Experts to develop data-driven solutions for the business.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a relevant field
  • 3+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, SAS, R
  • Experience with Hadoop, Oracle, and Teradata
  • Strong analytical and statistical skills
  • Experience in fraud prevention and detection
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with data mining and machine learning techniques.
